Home School Links Meetings
in the LRC at 7pm
The Home School Links meetings take place once each term and all parents are welcome to attend. We cover a range of topics such as ‘The Creative Curriculum, ‘Supporting Your Son in Applying to A Competitive University,’ ‘International Schools Status’ and ‘Supporting Gifted and Talented Students and those with Specific Learning Difficulties.
Parents have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss items with other parents. The meetings are a great way to meet other parents, especially if you are new to the school, and to discuss what is happening at Ilford County High School.
We really value parents’ input at these events.

Welcome to our Parental Information
As a school we are committed to the development of communication between students, parents and the school.
We have developed the use of an electronic e-mail and text message system with parents over the last two years and use this to get information home to you as quickly as possible.
The text message facility is used to highlight urgent attendance information and may be used on occasions when we need to let you know something straight away such as if severe weather conditions lead us to close the school early.
We send home by e-mail whole school letters, updates and other information you need to know about trips, activities and school related matters.
In the future we are looking to develop this service still further to send home PC Reports as the system we use develops. We rarely send home information via the students and ask that parents regularly check their e-mails from the school and if you are not receiving information from us that you contact us to check the information we have on record for you.
We will make alternative arrangements for parents who are unable to facilitate this method of communication.
We will in addition to the above put some information relating to general school matters on the school website and in the links on this page you will see updates sent home from the Headteacher, Mrs R Drysdale.

Working with Parents
We believe that parents should be closely involved. We see education as a partnership between home and school. We will always attempt to keep you informed about whole school issues as well as those relating directly to your son.
There are many opportunities for parents to meet with teachers. Parents Consultation Evenings are arranged each year for every age group enabling staff to report on pupils work. If you wish to speak to a specific subject teacher or discuss a more general issue relating to your son then please call the school office who will put you in touch with the most appropriate staff member.
To build on our partnership with parents, we have established a Home-School Links Group, which consists of a group of volunteer parents and staff. We meet every term to discuss topics of mutual interest.
Parents and carers can give their views of our school at any time of the school year using an online questionnaire called Parent View. Please register with an email address and a password by clicking on the logo above.
Once your login has been activated, it only takes a few minutes to complete answers to 12 short questions about aspects such as bullying, the quality of teaching, level of homework, etc.
Your views are important in helping make decisions about our school, and to help us know what is going well and what could be improved.
If you do not have a computer or an email address or if you would like help to use Parent View, please come into school and ask at reception.
