GCSE History (1937A)

AS History (8264)

A2 History (9264)

History is one of the most thought-provoking and creative subjects in the curriculum. Students are challenged intellectually and morally through detailed discussion.

Ofsted report: Provision for History is excellent.
'Very good quality teaching and learning leads to very high attainment.'
'Results, which are significantly above average, show a continuous trend upwards.'

Department description: At Ilford County High, we aim to develop students' understanding of history and the implications of broad political and social movements, as exemplified by history.

The History courses offered provide the chance to explore the build-up and aftermath of significant historical events and the importance of careful consideration of the implications of actions taken.

At GCSE and A Level, we concentrate on the discussion of cause and effect and the importance of different influences on history. These influences include propaganda, media and the cults of personality.

The course is highly enjoyable, as it opens students' minds to issues, debates and concepts across a range of historical periods and cultures.
