Department description: From September 2004, all Year 7 pupils will study Drama. The aims of this new course are to increase pupils’ confidence, to enhance communication skills in a variety of familiar and unfamiliar situations and to develop skills for working successfully in groups and negotiating learning outcomes.

A course such as Drama also helps to develop self- control and self–discipline, to support pupils in developing imaginative thinking skills and to foster understanding of others’ points of view.

In addition to discrete curriculum Drama, many boys will use Drama techniques in other subjects such as English, Religious Education and PSE. There is also a Drama Club as an extra-curricular activity. Boys are given several opportunities to attend professional performances in the West End and locally, and workshops are organised in School and at the London Borough of Redbridge Drama Centre, South Woodford.
