Equipment that you need...

·         Apron or an old shirt to protect your clothing.

·         An A4, cartridge sketchbook – this will be provided for you.

·         HB and 2B or 4B (H = hard lead for lighter tones and B = soft lead for darker tones) pencils and rubber.

·         A small set of oil-based pastels and/or a small set of water based paints for homework.

·         A small pritt-stick type glue.

In the art area...

·         When the warning bell sounds you should enter the art room and prepare for the lesson.

·         No coats are permitted and you will have finished eating and drinking and be ready for work.

·         Put on your protective clothing and stand quietly behind your seat to await the teacher’s instructions.

·         Make sure that you have your homework diary/planner and sketchbook with you.

·         Do not leave valuables unattended.

·         Take responsibility for your own mess and respect your own and others’ work.

·         Remember that you can always ask for advice and help from your teacher.

·         Remember to behave calmly in and around the art area – walk not run!

Homework...

·         You will usually do your homework in your sketchbook.

·         Make sure your name, form, year group, the periods you have art and art teacher’s name are on your sketchbook.

·         Never hand in scrappy homework or fold your homework.

·         Draw in freehand without using a ruler for straight lines in your drawings.

·         Use glue and not selo-tape when sticking.

·         Try and ‘fill’ the page with your artwork.

Assessment... How will my work be assessed?

·         You are expected to do your best on all homework assignments set!

·         Your teacher will write a comment to indicate your achievement and identify aspects for improvement for each homework set  (Comment only marking). Refer to the Success Indicator sheet to see what you should be aiming for.

·         You will receive verbal comments regarding the progress of your classwork during lessons.

·         Your teacher will record the level that you have achieved for each homework and classwork assignment in his/her markbook and this will be used as the basis for the award of AP & ROP grades. Your teacher may issue you with a Mark Sheet for you to record the level awarded.
