The pupil has made a
serious attempt to record observations of his face in a mirror and there is
clear evidence that he has attempted to modify and improve on his initial shapes
e.g. the eyes.
The inclusion of his hand has enhanced the dream like
mood of the drawing.
The
pupil has experimented with his pencil employing some vigorous, directional mark
making which lends energy to the background and contrasts with the
face.
To progress to the higher levels this pupil needs to
improve on the accuracy of the shapes and proportions of some of his features.
Although it is appropriate to distort features when working expressively the
shapes of the hand and nose need to be more convincing. The hand and face
would benefit from at least some modulation in tone as they are too linear and
bland at the moment.
